Tips For Trip

Essential Equipment:

1 pair strong, comfortable hiking boots

1 Medium/Large rucksack/ backpack 

(max weight when loaded & carried by porter- 15 kg.)

1 sleeping bag- down-filling to zero cent or lower depending on trip altitude

1 day pack: +/- 10 litters

1Down jacket or all –weather Anorak-long(not short) with hood

1 Warm wooly hat

Gloves- quality and warmth subject to altitude and season

Sun-glasses-essential above snow –line

Sun-block/ Sun –Screen lotion(30-50 SPF) –essential for light-skinned people

1 Fleece or warm sweater

1 Sweat –shirt/light sweater

Towel-cotton, medium

Torch/flash-light-with additional batteries

Shirts- long-sleeved, cotton and/ or thermal  Tshirts

Trousers-2 pairs( warm or light –weight depending on trek altitude)

Short- 1 pair, cotton ( easy-dry)

Socks-2 pairs thick wool, 2 pair thin cotton

Underwear- various (& pracal)

Wind/water – proof zip-up jacket( nearly knee-length with hood)

Sport –shoes/sandals- light-weight

Personal toiletries/washing kit-item bio-degrade where possible

  • Day 01:Drive to  Jiri (altitude:1995m) ? The Swiss Association for Technical Assistance(SATA) build the road as part of the Integrated Hill Development Project,a large programme of agricultural development in this region.Dramatic scenes of natural beauty,village scenery and cultural charm you can absorb along this 188km road.Jiri is a small beautiful hill town where the road ends at a cluster of hotels near the Swiss dairy and agricultural project.The people of Jiri and the sourrounding area are Jirelas,that’s why the name of this place came Jiri.

  • Day 02:Trek from Jiri to  Shivalaya (altitude:1790m) ? Now first part of the journey starts from Jiri main street and uphill entered into the forest ,field,pastureland and reaches top of the hill called Mali Danda(2400m).A sparsely populated Sherpa settlement around this area and scenery from this hill are remarkable.The trail from Mali Danda descends alongside stream,crossing it and emerges the main valley where the suspension bridge leads to Shivalaya.There are several tea houses in this town.Now new road start to stretching from Jiri around these areas.

  • Day 03:Trek from Shivalaya to Bhandar (altitude:2190m)  ? From Shivalaya the route crosses a stream and passes some houses,then starts a steep ascent to the Deurali where you can enjoy the supurb view with Mane walls.From Deurali,descends on a steep trail with the amphitheatre-shaped view of Bhandar.The village and natural beauty sourrounding the Bhandar are remarkable.

  • Day 04:Trek from Bhandar to Gumba (altitude:2000m) ? Early morning the trail descends through the lovely view of Lower Bhandar till the Likhu river.The trail crosses the Likhu river on a suspension bridge and ascends till the Gumba for overnight stay via Goli Village.This village offers you the real Nepalese culture and the hospitality with the great view of mountains and Gumbas.

  • Day 05:Trek from Gumpa to Ngaur (altitude:3350m) ? Gentle and pleasant uphill trail leads you to the Ngaur.Here are few small houses close by the cheese factory.

  • Day 06:Pikey Base Camp (altitude:3640m)(view point 4065m) ? The best view point in Nepal. This hill offers you what you exactly wanted to see and why you came to do this trek.   • Day 07-11:Trek from Jusmane bhajang to Junbesi (altitude:2700m) walking time Approx 5hrs ? Included accommodation: Tea house.

    Day 08 explore Junbeshi (altitude:2700m.)
    One of the very few villages, where you can see the Sherpa culture,Hill agriculture and monastery,Monks e.t.c.
    Junbesi village itself open Sherpa museum with magnificent village scenery and Sherpa customs and traditions.A visit in sourrounding the Junbesi also highly recommended. Thubten Chhuling,a huge Tibetan Buddhist monastery about 2hrs away is well worth to visit.The main Gomba is huge and impressive and often has more than 450 monks chanting both inside and outside.The monastery expects an offering from any visitor,whether foreign or Sherpa.There are small huts all over the hill for the residences of monks and nuns.The monastery was founded by Tushi Rinmpoche in late 1960s,who travelled to Nepal with many monks from Rongbuk Monastery in Tibet.
